Origin of the song

'There Will Never Be Another You' was the highlight of the film Iceland, produced in 1942 by 20th Century Fox and directed by H. Bruce Humberstone. It was not premiered in Spain; John Payne sang this song to Sonja Henie and was also performed by Joan Merrill, accompanied by Sammy Kaye's orchestra. The film was beaten by the critics and the audience was indifferent. 'There Will Never Be Another You' had little popular success in its time.

Harry Warren was a long and prolific composer. He died at the age of eighty-eight and for four decades he wrote more than eight hundred songs, many of which feature in the soundtrack to more than three hundred films. He was nominated for the Oscar for Best Song eleven times and won it three times, with 'Lullaby of Broadway' (1935), 'You'll Never Know' (1943) and 'On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe' (1946). Twenty-one of his songs reached number one in the popularity charts.

Harry Warren and Mack Gordon also collaborated on 'Chattanooga Choo Choo Choo' (1941), 'Serenade in Blue' (1942), 'At Last' (1942), 'You'll Never Know' (1943), 'I Wish I Knew' (1945), 'The More I See You' (1945) and 'This Is Always' (1946), among other songs.
