Origen de la canción
La orquesta de Ted Fio Rito, con el cantante y silbador Muzzy Marcellino, grabó “Willow Weep For Me” para el sello Brunswick en octubre de 1932. Aunque Ann Ronell había vendido la canción directamente a Paul Whiteman, Fio Rito se le adelantó tanto en los estudios de grabación como en la entrada en las listas de éxitos.
Ann Ronell dedicó la canción a George Gershwin, que la había ayudado al principio de su carrera musical. Trabajó para Disney durante los años treinta y logró un gran éxito con “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf”, perteneciente al corto de dibujos animados Three Little Pigs (Los tres cerditos, 1933). Estuvo nominada a dos premios Oscar en 1945: por la banda sonora del film The Story of G. I. Joe (Todos somos necesarios) y por la canción “Linda”, del mismo film. También intervino en la banda sonora de One Touch of Venus (Venus era mujer, 1948) y Love Happy (Amor en conserva, 1949).
