Origen de la canción
June Knight y Charles Walters cantaron "Just One Of Those Things" el 12 de octubre de 1935, fecha del estreno del musical Jubilee en el Imperial Theatre de Nueva York. En la obra, de la que se dieron ciento sesenta y nueve representaciones, una familia Real de un imaginario país europeo se ve obligada a ir al exilio ante la amenaza de una revolución, que luego resulta ser falsa.
Jubilee fue una de las diez obras musicales que se estrenaron en 1935, entre ellas Porgy and Bess, Jumbo y May Wine, ninguna de las cuales produjo beneficios. La Gran Depresión fue en parte responsable de su fracaso comercial, pero en el caso de Jubilee se deben sumar las malas críticas y la negativa reacción del público ante el libreto de la obra, lleno de bromas sobre amigos famosos de Porter, práctica que era habitual en el compositor. El final de las representaciones de la obra llegó cuando su estrella, Mary Boland, se fue a Hollywood. Otras canciones incluídas en el espectáculo eran “The Kling-Kling Bird on the Divi-Divi Tree”, “When Love Comes Your Way”, “Me and Marie”, “A Picture of Me Without You”, “Begin the Beguine”, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” y “Why Shouldn’t I?”.
